In order to enhance access to justice, given the fact that women frequently face
stigma and re-victimization, 4 specialized Courts have been created specifically
to deal with domestic violence in the capital city Montevideo (law 17.514), and
more Courts are foreseen for the rest of the country, in order to attend urgent c
ases.
